Concepts are a vital part of my work; I believe that design should have a meaning behind it rather then just being aesthetically pleasing. My more graphical based work has strong driving conceptual ideas behind them. In a ‘City Life’ project I wanted to portray something that may seem dull and ordinary e.g. car parks, as exciting environments. I found it very ironic that these stylish new buildings were only used for storing cars, by advertising the car parks as event venues and clubs, the buildings seem vibrant and electrifying. My ‘The More The Merrier?’ piece also has a strong message, it’s aiming to raise awareness of the use of battery cages for hens and encourage the purchase of free-range products.
